My Progress: Building the Foundation Before Reentry

A public record of preparation, outreach, education, and the work behind The Xavier Lee Plan.

Last Updated: October 2026

The Xavier Lee Plan is about preparation followed by action.

I am using my time before reentry to educate myself, teach others, build relationships, study real estate and entrepreneurship, and create a foundation for what comes next.

Rather than simply saying I’m preparing, I want to measure it.

Progress at a Glance

322

Outreach Letters Sent

I have sent 322 outreach messages and follow-ups across 143 contacts, including researchers, educators, entrepreneurs, reentry leaders, real estate professionals, advocates, and organizations.

Every response does not lead somewhere. Many messages receive no response at all.

I keep reaching out anyway.

40 / 400

People Taught Financial Literacy

I have taught financial literacy to approximately 40 incarcerated individuals.

Goal: 400 people
10% completed

The subjects include saving, credit, debt, investing, compound growth, ownership, and long-term financial decision-making.

60+

Books Completed

I have completed more than 50 books covering real estate, business, finance, leadership, psychology, reentry, personal development, society, biographies, and fiction.

The goal isn’t simply to read more.

It is to apply more.

143

Relationships & Contacts Tracked

I have built a structured outreach network of 143 contacts.

My outreach is intentional. I am trying to build relationships before I need them—not wait until release to begin asking for guidance, introductions, resources, and opportunities.

25

Wins Recorded

My outreach tracker currently records 25 wins.

A win can be a meaningful response, connection, resource, introduction, opportunity, or another step forward.

Small wins count because they compound.

Reentry Plan

Built & Continually Updated

I have developed a reentry plan covering housing, employment, identification, banking, transportation, finances, relationships, technology, supervision, community, and business.

The plan continues to change as I learn more.

Business Plan

Completed

I have completed a one-page business plan and additional entrepreneurship planning exercises.

My long-term real estate strategy remains:

Buy → Renovate → Rent → Teach

The Xavier Lee Plan

Website Launched

TheXavierLeePlan.com has become the public record of the journey.

I use it to publish my journal entries, reading, book reports, research, reentry preparation, business thinking, and progress.

Real Estate Preparation

In Progress

I continue studying wholesaling, acquisitions, market research, property analysis, renovation, financing, rental property ownership, property management, and responsible landlording.

Outreach: Creating My Own Opportunities

Of all these numbers, 322 may say the most about how I approach this process.

I cannot control who responds.

I can control whether I send the letter.

I have reached out to people from different backgrounds and industries asking questions, seeking advice, sharing my work, building relationships, and sometimes simply introducing myself.

Some have ignored me.

Some have told me no.

Some have responded with advice or resources.

And some conversations have grown into relationships.

The lesson has been simple:

Opportunity doesn’t always knock. Sometimes you have to introduce yourself first.

Education That Leads to Action

Reading more than 50 books matters to me, but reading alone isn’t the goal.

I have begun turning what I learn into book reports, research reflections, financial literacy classes, business ideas, questions for experts, and changes to my own plans.

Teaching 40 people is one example.

My published writing is another.

I want education to produce something.

Preparing for Business and Real Estate

Real estate remains the economic foundation of my long-term plan.

I continue studying wholesaling, acquisitions, property analysis, market research, negotiation, financing, renovation, rental properties, property management, and responsible landlording.

I understand the difference between studying business and operating one.

There are still milestones I have not reached:

First wholesale deal — Not Yet

First renovation — Not Yet

First rental property — Not Yet

First employee — Not Yet

Those belong to the next stage.

For now, my responsibility is to be as prepared as possible when that stage arrives.

What Comes Next

My priorities are straightforward:

  • Continue toward 400 people taught
  • Keep expanding meaningful relationships
  • Continue improving my reentry plan
  • Keep studying real estate and entrepreneurship
  • Publish what I learn
  • Keep building The Xavier Lee Plan
  • Keep doing the work even when the results aren’t immediate

Why I Track It

This page isn’t here to make it look like I’ve already arrived.

I haven’t.

It exists so there is a public record of the distance traveled.

Over time, these numbers should change.

40 becomes 100.

50 books becomes 75.

322 letters becomes 400.

And eventually some of those “Not Yet” milestones should become “Completed.”

That’s the point.

I don’t need to be finished. I need to keep moving forward.
